A funeral service for George W. Jordan, Jr., husband of Barbara Carter Jordan, will be at 11:00AM, Wednesday, August 20, 2008, in Evergreen Baptist Church, with Rev. Quinn Hicks, Rev. Bob Norris, and Judge Ralph King Anderson, Jr. officiating. The committal will follow in Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery. Family members will receive friends this evening, from 7:00-9:00 at Cain Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Dean and Julie Richardson 2730 Hunters Run, Florence, SC 29505. Memorials may be made to the Scholarship Fund of Unity Baptist Church, 29505 Pamplico Highway, Florence, SC 29505 or to the George W. Jordan Athletic Scholarship, c/o South Florence Booster Club, P.O. Box 13273 Florence, SC 29504. Mr. Jordan, 73, of Summerton, died Sunday, August 17, 2008, at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He was born December 3, 1934, in Florence County, SC, to the late George W. and Myra Purvis Jordan, Sr.. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church and a member of the Florence County Club. Among his survivors, in addition to his wife, are: sons, Patrick C. (Dina) Jordan of Florence, SC, George W. Jordan, III of Florence, SC; daughters, Julie J. (Dean) Richardson of Florence, SC, and Chrysti J. (Jay) Watford of Conway, SC; brothers, Harold D. (Mildred) Jordan of Charlotte, NC, and Cyril (Janie) Jordan of Florence, SC. Mr. Jordan, is preceeded in death by his parents, and a sister, Crys Rhodes.
