George Frederick "Teddy" Hawley, 57, of Florence, SC, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at his residence. Teddy was born in Danbury, CT, a son of Robert Charles Hawley and the late Jane Wooding Hawley. He was an over the road truck driver for 35 years. Teddy served proudly as a Volunteer Firefighter for 30 years, having worked with the Bethel F.D. in CT and then after moving to Florence, with the Howe Springs F.D. having reached the rank of Chief Engineer. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. Surviving are his loving wife of 38 years, Karen Kay Strolin Hawley; a daughter, Jessica (Patrick) Gale of Florence; a son, Joshua John (Katherine) Hawley of Mauldin; his father, Robert Charles (Celia) Hawley of Florence; a grandson, Tyler Hawley; three brothers, Richard, Ronald, and Christopher Hawley; and a sister, Cynthia Cann. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Mt Hope Cemetery, directed by Cain-Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the services at the Howe Springs Fire Department Meeting Hall and at other times at the residence.
