George Putnam, Jr., 82, of Effingham, S.C., died Thursday, June 9, 2011 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, S.C. He was born in Florence, S.C. a son of the late George Edward Putnam and Inez Jones Putnam. George served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired electrical inspector with the City of Florence. He is survived by his wife, Katherine Ingram Putnam of the home; two sons, David Edward Putnam (Valerie) of Norwood, N.C.; Travis Wayne Putnam of Effingham, S.C.; two brothers, James Edward Putnam (Mary) of Florence, S.C.; Wayne Putnam(Jeanette) of Florence, S.C.; one sister, Joyce Dabney of Florence, S.C.; three grandchildren, Christopher Putnam, Jason Lane Putnam and Nicholas Wayne Putnam; two great-grandchildren, Camden and Ayden Putnam. A graveside service will held Monday, June 13, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Florence Memorial Gardens directed by Cain Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.
