Gene A. Calcutt, 87, of Florence, SC, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024. Born in Florence, he was the son of the late Wilma Hewitt Calcutt and Albert Lloyd "Mitchell" Calcutt. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Rose Marie Calcutt; two brothers, Ed "Deleon" Calcutt and Jimmy Calcutt; one sister, Earline Miles; and a grandson, Dale "Sean" Conner. Some of Gene's hobbies included watching the Atlanta Braves and westerns, fishing, hunting, skating, and jitterbuggin' with the love of his life, Marie, his wife of 63 years. He also loved attending Florence After 5 with his family and friends. He loved to dance and always stayed active. Gene's last skating event was on his 80th birthday! He also enjoyed being a member of the Leatherman Senior Center. Surviving are his son, Roger Dale (Cheryl) Calcutt; two daughters, Annette (Dale) Conner and Mitzi (Joe) Lee; a sister, Emma Hill; four grandchildren, Kristin Lee, Kacie (Andrew) Flowers, Henry Joe (Nicole) Lee III "Jody" and Dawson Conner; and four great-grandchildren, Paul Thomas Brigman, Sean Wildes Flowers, Lively Madison Flowers, and Henry Joe Lee IV. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 9, 2024, in the chapel of Cain Calcutt Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 at the funeral home prior to the service.
