John 14:3 A funeral service celebrating the life of Frank Morning, Sr. will be held Tuesday, July 6th, at 11:00 am, Calvary Baptist Church, 915 Cherokee Road, Florence, S.C. followed by entombment in Mount Hope Cemetery Mausoleum, 100 Cherokee Road, Florence, S.C. The family will receive friends at a visitation at Cain Funeral Home, 512 W. Second Loop Road, Florence, S.C. from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, July 5th, and at other times at the residence, 511 N. Chelsea Drive, Florence, S.C. Memorials may be made to: Florence Civitan Club, P.O. Box 3273, Florence, SC 29502 or McLeod Hospice, 1203 E. Cheves St., Florence, S.C. Frank H. Morning, Sr. passed from this life to his greater reward on July 3rd, 2010, at his residence. Mr. Morning was born September 29, 1928 in Dover, N.C. to Claude and Bessie Morning. He grew up in Beaufort, N.C. where he enjoyed fishing and sailing around Bird Island, Shackleford Banks and Pivers Island. He graduated from Beaufort High School in 1947, where he was a catcher for the Seadogs Baseball Team, played trumpet in the band, and was a guard on the basketball team. Mr. Morning attended N.C. State in Raleigh before joining the U.S. Air Force. His basic training was in Wichita Falls, Texas and he became a member of the 1602nd Air Transport Wing, MATS, Military Air Transport Service. Mr. Morning was then deployed to Weisbaden, Germany where he assisted with the aftermath of World War II as Headquarters Supply Sergeant. He proudly served and was recently honored by his children on Flag Day, 2009, with a plaque on the Wall of Honor in the Florence Veterans' Park. After completing his military service, Mr. Morning returned home to Beaufort, N.C. He became a Life Insurance Agent and was later transferred to Florence, S.C. In 1965, he established the Frank Morning Insurance Agency. He expanded his business into an Independent Agency and held designations as Life Underwriter, Life Insurance Agents Manager and Property and Casualty Agent. During his career, he served as President of Life Underwriters of Florence, President of Independent Insurance Agents of Florence and President of Independent Agents of the Pee Dee. He was named Independent Insurance Agent of the Pee Dee for 1991-1992. Mr. Morning was actively involved in his business 42 years, until his retirement. Mr. Morning was an active member of the Florence Civitan Club for over 40 years. He served as President of the club in 1972 and also in 1981. He received the Florence Civitan Honor Key for 1987-1988 and was named Civitan of the Year in 1982 and also in 2000. For years Mr. Morning spent many patriotic holidays displaying and retrieving American Flags at businesses that participated in the Civitan Flag Project. For the past 35 years, Mr. Morning was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he and his wife were members of the Triple S Club and the Eagerton Sunday School Class. A real people person throughout his life, Frank enjoyed talking and joking with others. Some of his favorite times were family gatherings, time with his coffee club buddies and traveling vacations with his and Ora Dean's closest friends. To his family members, Frank passes on a legacy of his values of integrity, honesty, Christian beliefs, and faith, which will be treasured always. Left to cherish his dear memories are his dedicated wife of 58 years, Ora Dean, his dearly beloved children and spouses, Frank H. Morning, Jr. (Theresa B.) of Florence, Natica M. Tolar (Robert) of Anderson, S.C., and Kevin R. Morning (Donna) of Florence. His cherished grandchildren, Reverend Michael Tolar (Carrie) of Garner, N.C., April Morning of Florence, Steven Tolar of Columbia, S.C., David Tolar of Minneapolis, Minn., Jesse Morning and Jamie Morning of Florence. His precious great-grandchildren, Jacob and Ethan of Garner, N.C. and Leanna and Kayla of Florence. Also, sister-in-law, Gwen Morning of Beaufort, N.C., several special nieces and nephews, and many loving friends. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his brother, Claude Morning, Jr. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Morning's Hospice nurse, Angel, nursing assistant, Linda, McLeod Hospice Home Care service providers and his doctors for their excellent care, assistance and support, as well as the many compassionate friends who have been there for him during his illness.
