A Mass of Christian Burial for Frank Joseph Chmielecki, will be held for the family at St. Ann's. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Helen Zarnowski Chmielecki. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Ann's Catholic Church, 113 S. Kemp Street, Florence, SC 29506. Mr. Chmielecki, 93, of Florence, died Thursday, January 15, 2009, in a local nursing home after a short illness. He was born March 10, 1915, in New Haven, CT, to the late Lucian and Frances Herschel Chmielecki. Frank proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1933 - 1935. He was a Connecticut State Trooper 1940 - 1949, and later managed the claims office of the Connecticut Bus Company. He was Choir Director for over 10 years at the Church of the Assumption in Manchester, CT. He was past president of the Manchester (CT) Square Dance Club. After retiring in 1980, he and his wife traveled extensively. He had been a lifelong resident of CT, but he and his wife moved to Florence, SC in 2002 due to ill health. He was a communicant of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Florence, whose church family faithfully attended to his spiritual needs during his latter years and recent illness. He was a graduate of Hillhouse High School in New Haven, CT. He was the beloved father of sons, Martin (Kathleen Burke) Chmielecki of Florence and Mark (Rose DesChenes) Chmielecki of Vernon, CT; grandchildren, Matthew Chmielecki (Monique), and Alison Watford (Matthew) both of Florence, SC; Jason Chmielecki of Middletown, CT, Lisa Millin (Steve) and Brian Chmielecki both of Denver, CO, Jillian Blake (Chris) of Meriden, CT; and 9 great-grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by all.
