Francis Marion Parnell Sr., 76, of Florence, SC, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020.  He was born in Kingstree, SC, a son of the late James Calhoun Parnell and Daisy Burrows Parnell.  He is also predeceased by his wife, Sarah Lynn Hardy Parnell, a daughter, Mary Beth Parnell Coleman and six siblings.

Mr. Parnell retired after serving for 23 years in the Army National Guard.  He was also retired from Union Carbide/ESAB.  He was a member of the Flintville Masonic Lodge.  Marion never met a stranger and he was affectionately known around town as "The Peanut Man".  He will be missed by many.

Mr. Parnell is survived by his children, Francis Marion Parnell, Jr. (Kimberlee Wiggins), and Emily Parnell Nelson (David); a son in law, Chris Coleman; a brother, Robert Parnell (Miriam); a sister, Judy Welch; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at Broad Swamp Pentecostal Cemetery in Kingstree, SC, directed by Cain Calcutt Funeral Home.  You may come by the funeral home to pay your respects to Mr. Parnell from 12:00 until 5:00 PM on Wednesday, December 30, and at the cemetery on Thursday December 31, 2020, from 10:00 until 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.  Cain Calcutt Funeral Home is honored to serve the Parnell family.
