Faye Hanna Avin, 68, of Florence, died on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at McLeod Regional Medical Center. Faye was born in Florence County, SC, the daughter of the late Mary Hanna and her adopted parents, the late Keith and Gladys Vause. Faye was retired from DuPont of Florence. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and a great friend to many. Faye loved everybody and she never met a stranger, she would help anyone who needed it. She was a fantastic cook and enjoyed family gathering. Faye also loved animals, along with her daughter, always rescuing a dog from somewhere and finding it a good home. Faye is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Carlton Richard "Rick" Avin; five children, Sherry (Brad) Smith-Goff of Florence, Christy Avin (Tim) Jeffords of Darlington, Gerald G. (April) Smith, III, of Coward; Trent Ashley (Genia) Avin of Darlington, and Michael Donavan Avin of Pikesville, TN; her mother-in-law, Nellie Avin of Florence; a sister, Sonja Vause Pier of Timmonsville; a sister-in-law, Terry (Tommy) Walkup; twelve grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at Greenwood Baptist Church with burial to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, directed by Cain-Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home. The family would like to thank the staff at McLeod Regional Medical Center for treating Faye so wonderful and also being there for them. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Friday, July 31, 2015, at the funeral home.
