A memorial service for Eva Wade Layton , widow of William Isaac Layton will be at 5:30 PM, Sunday January 10, 2010 in the Chapel of the Methodist Manor of the Pee Dee conducted by the Rev. Tom Pietila and Chaplain Ann Ayers. At her request she donated her body to the Medical University of Georgia. Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church 225 W. Cheves Street Florence, SC. 29501 or Methodist Manor of the Pee Dee 2100 Twin Church Road Florence, SC 29501. Mrs. Layton, 92, died Saturday January 9, 2010 in a local hospital. She was born February 14, 1917 in Richmond, VA to the late Alex Corson and Eva James Wade. She was also predeceased by three sisters and a brother. She graduated from George Peabody College for Teachers and prior to the birth of her children taught Latin and Music in the public schools. Prior to moving to Florence she was a long time resident of Nacogodoches, TX and Newberry, SC. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church, the Christian Family Sunday School Class and a founding member of the Methodist Manor Choir. She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. Surviving are daughters, Mary Layton (Robert) Wells of Florence and, Gay Layton (John) Aycock of Kingsport, TN; grandsons, Robert Layton Wells, Benjamin Wells, Stephen Wells and Daniel Aycock; granddaughter, Amy Aycock.
