A funeral service for Eugenia (Jean) S. Odom, widow of Alvin J. Odom, will be at 3:00PM, Sunday, August 31, 2008, in Central United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Tom Pietla and Chaplain Ann Ayers. Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6:00-8:00 at Cain Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, 255 W. Cheves Street, Florence, SC 29501. Mrs. Odom, 87, died Friday, August 29, 2008, in a local retirement facility. She was born March 13, 1921, in Florence, to the late John C. and Bessie King Snyder, Sr. She was also predeceased by a sister, Myrtice Crouch. She was a lifelong member of Central United Methodist Church, the Christian Family Sunday School Class, served on the Altar Guild and as a Church Hostess for weddings. She was also a member of Milton Lodge #593 the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainman, and a charter member of the Green Thumb Garden Club. Surviving are: sons, Eugene (Deidra) S. Odom of Murrell's Inlet and Alvin (Annette) J. Odom, Jr. of Highlands, NC; grandson, Jason Snyder Odom of Atlanta, GA; granddaughter, Dargan O. Davis of Columbia; step-grandson, Johnny Odell Anglin of Shallotte, NC; step-granddaughter, Ericka Leigh Farr of Atlanta;seven great grandchildren; brother, John C. Snyder, Jr. of Georgetown
