Ernest "Ernie" Frederick Strauss, 75, of Florence, SC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, to be with the Lord after a hard fought battle with cancer.  He was born in Stuttgart, Germany, a son of the late Ernest Frederick and Lizzette Kuhn Strauss.  He is also predeceased by a son, Adam Barlowe.

Ernie received his American citizenship at the age of 9.  He was a celebrated veteran of the Vietnam War where he served in the US Navy from 1963 until 1969.  After his military service, he was self employed in chemical manufacturing.  He was an avid golfer and loved the game of football.

Surviving is his wife of 34 years, Linda G. Strauss; a son, Jason Wesley; brother in law, Cecil Cutter, Jr; a loving sister, Karen McCabe (Bill) of Flushing, NY; a brother, Richard Strauss of Tampa, FL; and three nieces, Debbie Motz of Lake Ariel, PA, Kathy Shaffer of NY  and Lisette Rios of College Point, NY; and a loving group of nephews, grand nephews and nieces.  .

As per Ernie's wishes, there will be no service, but to keep his family up in prayer.  Cain Calcutt Funeral Home is honored to serve the Strauss family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or to the American Kidney Foundation.
