A funeral service for Miss Elberta Rhodes will be at 2:00PM Tuesday July 21, 2009, in Bethsaida United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Bill McCown. Interment will follow in McLaughlin Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00PM Monday July 20 at Cain Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Bethsaida United Methodist Church C/O Bea Ann Holloman 117 E. Christmas Circle, Effingham, SC 29541. Miss Rhodes, 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ Sunday morning, July 19, 2009, in a local hospital. She was born, September 24, 1923 in Effingham to the late Lawrence B and Fannie McLaughlin Rhodes. She was also predeceased by sisters, Anna Belle R. Corbett, Virginia R. Touchberry and Hannah R. Reeves; brothers, Willie M. Rhodes and Robert H. Rhodes and half-brothers, Pete Rhodes and Elliott Rhodes. Miss Rhodes retired from Tans Bay School as the cafeteria manager. She was also known for her love of her church, Bethsaida Methodist. Surviving are: twin sister, Roberta R Thornton of Effingham; brother, Frank Rhodes of MD; a special great niece and care giver, Angela (Sidney) Howze and children and many loved nieces and nephews.
