Florence, SC Elayne Hunter Bishop, 86, of Florence, SC, died on Wednesday, September 03, 2014. She was born in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Dr. Leonard and Ruth Hunter. She married Richard Quentin Bishop in 1947 and they were married for 37 years until his death in 1984. Elayne is survived by her sons, Quinn Bishop of Port Charlotte, Florida and Chris (Joni) Bishop of Gresham, SC; a brother, Leonard (Eva) Hunter of New Jersey; and her grandson, Jon Bishop of Florence, SC. Elayne was a member of Central Methodist Church for 63 years. She was involved in many activities such as serving on the executive board, church council, chancel choir, and church office volunteer. Elayne worked as the church visitor for 21 years. She sang in the church choir for more than 60 years and was a founding member of Masterworks Choir. Elayne also sang on special occasions at Temple Beth Israel. Elayne was very active in the Florence community and volunteered with Florence Mental Health Association. She had a love for the performing arts and participated in many shows at the Florence Little Theater including Carousel, Guys and Dolls, The Sound of Music, The King and I, Fiddler on the Roof, A Little Night Music, and My Fair Lady. She was also a past President of the Junior League. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Central United Methodist Church, 265 West Cheves Street, Florence, SC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Central United Methodist Church Choir, PO Box 87, Florence, SC 29503-0087 and Masterworks Choir, PO Box 469, Florence 29503-0469.
