Obituary

A memorial service for Edward Will, husband of, Juanita (Jo) Will, will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2009, in Cain Funeral Home Chapel, Florence. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately after the service. Interment with military honors by Florence Veterans Honor Guard will be at Florence Memorial Gardens. Mr. Will, 88 died Wednesday, July 22, 2009, in Columbia. He was born March 26, 1921, in Paterson, NJ, the son of the late Theophil and Martha Friederick Will. He was also predeased by a daughter, Diane Berry and son, Edward "Little Eddie" Will. Edward served two tours of duty in the Eighth Air Force. He was stationed in England and India, flying over Germany and China. He flew the B-17 Flying Fortress and was awarded the Air Medal as well as four Oak Leaf Clusters. Edward was a member of the Third Bombardment Division, which was cited by the President for it's now historic England-Africa shuttle bombing of a Messerschmitt fighter plane plant at Regensburg, Germany. Prior to entering the service in 1942, he was employed with Wright Aeronautical Corporation. He retired from Union Carbide Corporation as a machinist. He was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church Surviving, in addition to his wife of 64 years, are: daughter, Nancy Will of Lexington, SC; grandchildren, Josie (Tony) Cirranello of Bradenton, FL, and Kerry Ann (Scott) Crossley of Columbia, son-in-law, Van Berry of Rockingham, NC.
