Edna Brown Wright Barbare, 93, of Columbia, formerly of Florence, SC, died Tuesday, March 31, 2015. She was born in Paxville, SC, a daughter of the late Richard A. and Irene Touchberry Brown. She is preceded in death by her parents, a son, Donnie Edward Wright and an infant son, David Earl Wright, and ten brothers and sisters. Edna worked for Southern Bell Telephone for over 30 years. She was an operator, trainer and draftsman for the company. She was a member of the Pioneers. Edna loved her family and was especially proud of her seven great grandsons and the newest member of her family, her great great granddaughter. She was a resident at Wildewood Downs Retirement Center for the past 5 years. She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Wright Collins of Columbia; a sister, Lydia Johnson of Charleston; grandson, Lee (Barbara) Collins; granddaughters, Lisa C. (Austin) Smith and Kellee C. Flores, both of Columbia; great grandsons, Will (Nikki) Collins, Christopher Collins, Austin Smith, Chad Smith, Collin Flores, Walker Flores and Garrett Flores, all of Columbia;; a great great granddaughter, Charlotte Ann Collins of Columbia; step children, Don O. (Gail) Barbare, Mike Barbare, Dianne, Gayle, Patricia and Cathy, all of Anderson; a sister in law, Katie Bell Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 4, 2015, at Mount Hope Mausoleum Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM, directed by Cain-Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home.
