Edna Wright McNeill, 82, of Florence, SC, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at MUSC after a short illness. She was born in Columbus County, NC. She was the last remaining of 14 children born to Charlie M. and Sarah Gore Wright. She is predeceased by her parents and her husband of more than 40 years, Jack Green McNeill. Mrs. McNeill was employed by McLeod Hospital for more than 30 years. After her retirement in 1995 she became a caregiver for several different people. She spent her life helping others and will be missed by many. Mrs. McNeill was a faithful member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. She also was a McLeod Hospice volunteer for more than 20 years. She is survived by her daughters, Cindy (Doug) Robinson of Cary, NC and Beth (Rick) Phipps of Florence, SC; her son, Buddy (Audrey) McNeill of Thomasville, NC; and six grandchildren: Sarah Tinsley, Megan Robinson, Thomas McNeill, Zach McNeill, Jacob McNeill and Army Specialist Timothy Phipps. A memorial service directed by Cain Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, April 28, 2017, in the Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to McLeod Hospice or Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
