Florence, SC Dorothy "Dot" Price Floyd, 80, of Florence, SC, died on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at Pee Dee Gardens in Florence. She was born in Rocky Mount, NC, a daughter of the late Daniel Webster and Mary Alice Browning Price. Dot graduated from Rocky Mount Senior High, where she was the captain of the girls' basketball team and in her senior year, won her High School Dance Contest wearing saddle oxfords and her poodle skirt. She graduated from Parkview Nursing School as an LPN and worked for many years in the local hospitals. She retired from Florence School District 1 as a Librarian. Dot was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she volunteered as the Church Librarian. She loved needlework and was a member of a local garden club. Dot is predeceased by her parents and three brothers, William P. Price, Oscar L. Price and Roy W. Price. She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Speight Floyd, Sr.; daughter, Kandis F. (Alex) Lindsay of Fayetteville, NC; son, Richard "Rick" S. Floyd, Jr. of Cheraw, SC; daughter, Sandra "Sandy" F. (Clark) Ard of Effingham, SC; grandchildren, Heather Summerford, David McCoy, Richard Floyd III, Holden Floyd, Bailey Floyd, Nicholas Ard and Natalie Ard; and one great-grandchild, Lauren Summerford; and a sister-in-law, Brenda G. Price (Richard) Bunn. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church. Entombment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Cain Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 The family will receive friends on Friday, November 28, 2014 from 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home.
