A private service for Dorothy B Kirkland, widow of James E. Kirkland, will be held at a later date. Her ashes will be interred with those of her husband at Florence National Cemetery. Mrs. Kirkland, 84, died August 12, 2009, in a local hospital. She was born, October 13, 1924 in New York, NY, to the late Edward and Sarah Johnston Byrnes. Surviving are: daughters, Linda (Larry) Levisen of Florence, Carol (Bill) Spivey of Greenville, SC and Donna (Tony) Christy of Lithia, FL; nine grandchildren, Bill, Terry, Nichole, Joshua, Rocky, Tony, Chad, Bear and Crystal; nine great grandchildren, Neil, Samantha, Zack, Noah, Matthew, Cody, Riley, Connor and Bayleigh; and two sisters.
