Dorothy Byrd Blackwell, 87, of Florence, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at McLeod Hospice House. She was born in Marion, SC to the late Coy Byrd and "Vermell" Raines Byrd Conyers. She is predeceased by, in addition to her parents, her husband, Gene Blackwell; two sons, Jimmy Parnell and Robin Parnell; a brother, James L. Byrd; and two sisters, Vera B. Powell and Pat Gerald. She was retired as a stock manager for K-Mart in Murrell's Inlet, SC and was a member of the Florence Baptist Temple. Survivors include: two daughters, Connie (Jim) Cox of Pensacola, FL, Brenda Johnson of Lexington, SC; a son, Rocky (Belinda) Parnell of Florence, SC; a brother, Billy (Pat) Byrd of Florence, SC; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 PM on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Cain Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home, 512 2nd Loop Rd, Florence, SC 29505. A funeral service directed by Cain Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Peace FWB Church, 897 3rd Loop Road, Florence, SC 29505, with burial to follow in the Lamar Cemetery.
