Doris Courtney Fox Burke, 96, of Florence, formerly of Manchester, Connecticut, passed away quietly, surrounded by her family, on Friday, December 7, 2018 at the McLeod Hospice House. She was born November 12, 1922 in Hartford, CT, daughter of the late George and Georgiana Gileau Fox.  In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton Ellsworth Burke, Sr., and a sister, Marjorie Gallup.

She graduated from Bulkeley High School and worked for Travelers Insurance Company.  After their retirement, she and her husband traveled extensively through Europe, China, Russia, Australia, Hawaii and Alaska.

Doris is survived by a daughter, Kathleen (Marty) Chmielecki of Florence, SC; a son, Carlton (Margaret) Burke Jr. of Augusta, ME.; six grandchildren, Matthew (Monique), Alison (Matthew), Andrea (James), Courtney, Benjamin and Daniel (Ellie); fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 13, 2018, at St. John's Church.
