Donna Jean Smith, 78, of Florence, SC, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.  She was born in Elgin, IL, the daughter of the late Donald Edward and Beatrice Mae McFarlane Bohne.

Donna worked for social services in North Carolina for many years.  She also worked for many years at Rainwater Furniture in Florence as well as SCDHEC.   Donna loved visiting with friends and playing cards, cats and going to car shows, especially Corvette shows with other car enthusiasts.

Surviving is her husband of 57 years, Curtis Wayne Smith; daughter, Julie Lynn Canipe (Mike) and her grand kitties and doggies; a brother, Donald Neil Bohne; and a special friend, Betsy Olive.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at Cain Calcutt Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home prior to the service.

A visitation and graveside service, directed by Fitzgerald Funeral Home, will be announced at a later date.  Burial will take place at Willwood Burial Park in Rockford, Il.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Florence Area Humane Society, to the Shriner's Children's Hospital or St. Jude.
