Dewey William Hicks, 81, of Florence, SC, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2018, at Carolinas Hospital.  He was born in Pamplico, SC, a son of the late Stanley Hicks and Florrie Stone Hicks.

Dewey served our country in the US Air Force, where he met the love of his life in Okinawa, Japan.  Dewey and Fumi celebrated 58 years of marriage last August.  He founded American Trophy Company in Florence in 1967 and was an active member of First Free Will Baptist Church, serving in various capacities throughout the church.  His passions were his family, his church, deer hunting, and Christmas.

He is survived by his wife, Fumi Miyaguni Hicks; three daughters, Debby Hicks Gandy; Peggy Hicks Meddaugh (Ted Urquhart), Linda Hicks Bryant (Kenney); three grandchildren, Eron Gandy, Elisa Pavia (Erik), Hannah Gandy and their father, Eddie Gandy; six brothers, Aron Hicks, Thomas Hicks (Cindy), Gerald Hicks (Annette), Legrand Hicks (Ann), Ronald Hicks (Mattaline), Wayne Hicks (Polly); and numerous nieces, nephews, and family in Japan.  He is predeceased by a sister, Leola Turner; and five brothers, Eugene, Alvis, Herman, Julian, and Joseph.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at the First Free Will Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service.

Memorials may be made to First FWB Church, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Disease Research.
