Florence, SC Delmar "J' "C" Jordan, 98, of Florence, SC, died on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at a local healthcare facility. Born in Albemarle, NC, he was a son of the late James R. and Laura Elizabeth Harris Jordan. Mr. Jordan graduated from New London High School and went on to graduate from Pfeiffer Junior College in Charlotte, NC, where he was a member of the basketball team. He was a member of our nation's greatest generation, having served in WWII with the US Navy. He attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Mr. Jordan went on to work with McDonnell Douglas Astronautics Company (Boeing), and also worked with the Kennedy Space Center and NASA, where he assisted in putting the first man on the moon. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mychree Jordan Edwards; two brothers, Bural Jordan and Elwood Jordan. He is survived by his nieces, Cheryl Jordan Burleson and Tonia Jeffries; nephews, Tim Jordan and Bural Jordan, Jr., and a very special friend, Bobby Murphy. A service will be held at a later date in the Palestine Methodist Church Cemetery in Albemarle, NC.
