Delbert L. Timmons, 78, of Effingham, SC went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 2, 2025.

Mr. Timmons was born in Florence, SC a son of the late Leola Stricklen Timmons and Albert Timmons.  He was a graduate of Southside High School and was drafted into the U.S. Army during Vietnam, from which he received the Bronze Star.  Delbert worked for the CSX Railroad for 38 years.  He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed riding his tractor, fishing, hunting, planting in his garden, and NASCAR, most of all, Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Jimmy Johnson.  He loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard Timmons and Russell Timmons; sister, Patricia Huckabee; brother-in-law, Robert Byrd; and sister-in-law, Joann Daniels Timmons.

Surviving are his daughter, Dana Jo (Jack D.) Weaver; son, Detrick Timmons; grandchildren, Owen Detrick Timmons and Lexi Weaver; sister, Debra Byrd; and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Timmons.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 pm Thursday, November 6, 2025 at Calcutt-Dowling Funeral Home with the service to be held at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.  Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens.
