MSGT. David Autrey Duke, USAF retired, 81, of Sumter, SC, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024. He was born in Manning, SC, a son of the late David Hartwill Duke and Mary Freeman Duke. He is also predeceased by two sisters, Ann Davis and Mary Jane Scott. David served his country and retired from the US Air Force as a security policeman, having many overseas postings including Iceland and Germany. He loved traveling and going cruising. One of his favorite pastimes was playing horseshoes.
Surviving is his wife of 36 years, Betty Prevatte Duke; five daughters, Regina Maria Seth (Walter), Christine Audra Lewis (Michael) and Lara Kay Falls (Bryan), Ramona A. Dilloian (Greg) and Angela A. Black (Carson); fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Duke (Mary Anne) and Michael Duke (Jodi); and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service directed by Cain Calcutt Funeral Home will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 in the Florence National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
