Florence, SC Daniel Edward Currie, Sr., 86, of Florence, SC, died on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Carolinas Hospital in Florence. Daniel was born in Chatem County, Georgia, a son of the late Lilly Bell Collins Currie and Dennis Jerome Currie, Sr. Daniel is predeceased, in addition to his parents, by a daughter, Cindy Currie Voss. Daniel was a veteran of the US Navy and the Marine Corps. He was retired from the railroad after 38 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Cotingham Currie; sons, Danny Currie of North Carolina, and Tim Currie (Tina Ahrens) of Florence, SC; a stepdaughter, Ann (Glenn) Hill of Florence, SC; six grandchildren, Danielle Voss Nelson Orcutt of Louisiana, Brook Hobbs of Florence, SC, Megan Currie Silver of North Carolina, Sarah Currie, Chris Currie and Robin Currie, all of South Carolina; and cousins, Debbie Richardson of Florida and Grady Collins, Jr. of Georgia. Private services will be held at Florence National Cemetery. Cain Funeral Home is assisting the family.
