Dale L. Draper, 87, of Florence, SC, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024 at the Mcleod Hospice House after a long illness. He grew up in Grundy Center Iowa, a son of the late Fred J. Draper and Florence Bockes Draper. Dale graduated from Grundy Center HS in 1956 and Iowa State University in 1961 with a bachelor's degree in civil and structural engineering. Dale served his country in the Army Reserve. He later obtained a Professional Engineer license in multiple states. Dale spent many years working on the family farm in Iowa prior to moving to Ohio. He was chief engineer at Martin Steel and Milan Steel in Ohio. He worked as a structural engineer most recently at Cartee Berry and Aluminum Ladder. He also provided structural drawings for many local contractors in the Florence area. Dale was an avid 4-wheel drive enthusiast and helped provide aid to many residents in Ohio during the blizzard of 1978. He also loved to spend time riding his motorcycle as well as attending classic car and tractor shows. He volunteered at the old Florence Animal Shelter and laterat Carolina Kitties Rescue.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, brother John Draper, sister Lois Draper, and stepson Robert "Rob" Bores.

Surviving is his loving wife of 32 years Alice "Ali" Uther Draper; siblings, Helen Price (Don deceased), Mary Swindall (Dan deceased), Glen Draper (Vicki), Alice Draper; children, Debra Draper, Daphne Draper, Darren Draper (Heidi), David Draper (Jennifer), and Dominic Draper (Gabrielle) as well as stepdaughter Regina "Gina" Bores Sellers (Thomas), and a step-daughter-in-law, Megan Mounts Bores. Dale also has 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Ohio where Dale spent much of his adult life raising a loving family.  Cain Calcutt Funeral Home is honored to served the Draper family.
