Claude Elbert Nance, 84, of Florence, S.C., died Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence. He was born in Cerro Gordo, N.C., a son of the late Cort Monroe and Alma Rouse Nance. He is predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Richard Arnold Nance and Thomas Floyd. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruby Friar Nance of Florence, S.C.; two daughters, Julie Ann Nance of Darlington, S.C.; Lisa Nance Canon and her husband Rick of Florence, S.C.; two brothers, Cort Monroe Nance, Jr. of Houston, Texas; Bob Floyd of Darlington, S.C.; one sister, Janet Floyd of Darlington, S.C.; two grandchildren, Joseph Canon and Sydney Canon, both of Florence, S.C. Claude was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church where he was a member of the Bob Johnson Sunday School Class. Claude was retired from Sears Roebuck, Co. with 44 years of service and was known to his friends and customers as "Shorty". His most recent employment was with Enterprise Rental Care for 17 years. He was a member of the Amity Masonic Lodge for 60 years. He loved his Lord, family, fishing and his cats. A funeral service will be held Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 4:00 P.M. in the Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel directed by Cain Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the cemetery.
