Obituary

A graveside service with military honors by Florence Veterans Honor Guard for Clarence R."Buster" Evans will be at 4:00PM Saturday August 29, 2009 in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Florence, conducted by Rev. Faye Stephens. The family will receive friends at the cemetery after the service. Memorials may be made to Home Based Primary Care Program, Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center, 109 Bee Street, (11G) Charleston, SC 29401-5799. Mr. Evans, 87, formerly of Timmonsville, died August 27, 2009, in Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center, Charleston. He was born, August 10, 1922 in Columbia, to Jessie C. and Cora Lee Evans. He was also predeceased by his wife, Lee Moore Evans, beloved daughter, Karen Begley, grandson, Brandon Taylor Begley and sisters, Katherine Register, Orie McMillan and Jessie Yarborough. Mr. Evans was a supervisor for Sunbeam Bread Company in Greenwood and then went to work in the Navy Ship Yard in Charleston. He served in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. Among his decorations, where three Bronze and one Silver Star. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Goose Creek and was a Shriner. Surviving are: daughter, Clair E. (Scott) Murray of Lexington, SC; step-sons, Steve (Carol) Maher of California, Kerry Maher of Korea and Kevin (Sayoka) Maher of Washington, DC; ten grandchildren, including Jay (Kelly) Edwards and Karlie and Evan Begley and great granddaughter, Molly Edwards.
