Claire Lester Leach, 90, of Florence, SC, went to meet her Savior on Sunday, April 7, 2013. She was born in Dadeville, Alabama, a daughter of the late Carl and Reba Coker Lester. She attended Berry College in Rome, GA and years later her family moved back to Rome where she opened a daycare center. She worked at Sears for 25 years in customer service where she retired at the age of 80. She was a charter member of Parkwood Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder and historian for The Women of the Church. She also taught Sunday school for the adult class. Mrs. Leach is predeceased by her parents, her husband, James Grady Leach Sr, three sisters, Doris Hicks, Evelyn Bailey and Wylodean White, and a grandson, James Grady Leach III. She is survived by three children, James Grady Leach (Mitzy) of Florence, SC; Barbara Leach Todd (Glenn) of Charleston, SC; Paul Lester Leach of Florence, SC; four sisters, Colleen Davis of Jacksons Gap, AL; Virginia Yates of New Site, AL; Geneva Messer of Wedowee, AL; Sandra Rodgers of Columbus, GA; one brother, Jesse Coker Lester of Lakewood, CA; seven grandchildren, Lauren Leach, Jennifer Heyward, Amy McDowell, David Chapman, Kevin Chapman, Jesse Lester, Nicole Ussery; 9 great-grandchildren, Chelsea Heyward, Noah Leach, Blake Heyward, Rowan Leach, Grady Chapman, Charlotte Claire McDowell, Lauren Elizabeth Leach, Claire Chapman and Cora Chapman; many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 4:00 P.M. at Cain Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00 prior to the service at the funeral home.
