Cindy Tyler, 45, of Florence, left this world and began her eternal life March 24, 2008, after an extended illness. A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 11:00AM in First Presbyterian Church, conducted by Rev. Dr. Barry Jenkins and Rev. Chris Handley. Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight at Cain Funeral Home. She was born in Florence, graduating from Maranatha Christian School. She later attended Florence/Darlington Technical College and achieved her degree, after which she started her employment with Fleet Funding. After approximately two years, Cindy changed career paths and took on a position with the office of Dr. Townsend Holt as an orthodontic technician. She loved the spirit of all her co-workers, as well as working with them to create many beautiful smiles. Although they were like extended family to Cindy, she left Dr. Holt's office after 18 years in order to devote her time to raising her own family. Cindy and her husband Matt were blessed with two children, Alana and Austin. These two were stars in her sky, loving them more than anything else in her life, with the possible exception of her study and dedication to her Christian Faith. Cindy was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Florence, where she served as a children's Sunday School teacher for a number of years, and was also a member of the Grace and Truth Sunday School class. Cindy loved being with her family at all times, but especially while watching the waves come ashore, searching for pretty shells or just walking on the beach at Garden City. She was an excellent cook and appreciated older books and antiques. She will be remember for her style and good taste as well as her wit and sense of humor. She is predeceased by her father-in-law, Dan Tyler; maternal grandmother, Ola Poston; and paternal grandfather, Eugene Lyerly. In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by her mother and father, Margaret and Carlton Lyerly; grandfather, Jessie Poston; grandmother, Beatrice Lyerly; mother-in-law, Electa Tyler, as well as sister, Julie Ham (Glenn); brothers-in-law, Wesley, Wright (Rosebud) and Paul Tyler; nieces, Jesslyn Ham, Angela Tyler and Summer Tyler; nephews, Tyler Ham and Luke Tyler; several aunts, uncles and cousins and numerous friends whose lives she touched, all of whom will miss her ever present kindness and beautiful smile. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church Children's Ministry, 700 Park Avenue, Florence, SC 29501.
