Chief Master Sergeant Edward Nathaniel Addison, USAF (Ret.), 78, of Florence, SC, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 16, 2025, at the McLeod Regional Medical Center. Mr. Addison was born in Florence, SC, a son of the late Fred and Annie Mae James Addison. He was a 1964 graduate of Wilson High School and attended Morris College. He was a proud retired US Air Force Veteran, having served from May 1965 to June 1995 and having served two years in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969 and 1972 to 1973. He entered the Air Force as a Jet Engine Mechanic and was a Jet Engine Technical School Instructor at Chanute AFB, IL. Mr. Addison was an instructor in Air Force Race Relations Education and Counselor/ Investigator, aided in AF Equal Opportunity Issues, was a Top AF Recruiter in Columbia, SC, served as a recruiting supervisor in New York City, Master Instructor and Course/Curriculum Superintendent, served as the AF Recruiting School Superintendent (3554th USAF Recruiting Squadron) in Detroit Michigan and was the first African America Superintendent of the 3501st USAF Recruiting Group. After Mr. Addison's military career, he went to work in the Financial World having served as a Field Audit Auditor, Senior Field Auditor, Director of the Field Audit Department, Vice President of the Field Audit Department Southeast Region of Primerica Financial Services.
He was a member of the Snow Hill Masonic Lodge and the Wilson Alumni Association. He loved fishing, golfing, shopping, boating, gazing at the stars and spending quality time with his adorable and loving wife.
He is preceded in death in addition to his parents by two brothers, Fred Addison and Samuel Addison and a sister, Carthena Williams.
Surviving is his loving wife, Dr. Natasha Addison; a son, Edward N. Addison II; two sisters, Frances Jackson (Joseph Jr.) and Norma Gary; a brother, Ernest Addison (Brenda); nieces, Jewel Lynnette Jenkins (Odell), Tonya Campiglia (Robert), Coquette Washington and Bianca Addison; nephews, Daryl Stinney (Charnetta), Craig Addison, Khalid Addison (Regina), Sayed Addison, Andre Addison, Sr. (Robin), Everette Addison (Ashley) and Supreme Addison; great nieces & nephews, Xavier, JaTabeia, Andre, Jr., Xavier, Dominic, Dominique, and Divine Addison, Aden Blackmon (Columbia), Sir Carrington and Bennington Price.
Funeral services, with full military honors, will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 23, 2025 in the chapel of Cain Calcutt Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the services. A private burial will take place at a later date.
