A memorial service for Charles Edward Parker, widower of Evelyn E. Parker, will be held at a later date in Pineview Cemetery, Rocky Mount, NC. Mr. Parker, 81, died Thursday January 21, 2010 at his residence. He was born May 17, 1928 in Rocky Mount, NC to the late James E and Ada Mears Parker. Mr. Parker was a graduate of Rocky Mount High School, received his BS from Wake Forest University and MA from Western Carolina University and Master of Mathematics from University of South Carolina. He served in the US Air Force and then taught in the public schools in Tryon and Charlotte, NC. He joined the USC-Florence (now Francis Marion University) faculty in 1967. In 1970, he became Assistant Professor of Mathematics and retired in 1996. He was a member of Mathematical Association of America, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and American Association for the Advancement of Science and American Association of University Professors. Surviving are brother, William K. Parker of Dunwoody, GA and a number of nieces and nephews.
