Charles Edward Lee, 70, of Florence, S.C., passed away Saturday, February 4, 2017 at McLeod Hospice House after a brief illness. He was born in Florence County, son of the late Charlie Woodrow and Louise Matthews Lee. Charles was a graduate of Newberry College and completed his post- graduate work in Education at the University of South Carolina. He retired after several years of service as special education teacher for Florence School District One. He was a longtime member of Highland Park United Methodist Church where he was active in the Faith Sunday School Class and the usher ministry. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sylvia Anderson Lee of Florence, S.C.; two sons, Jason C. Lee (Ingrid) of Florence, S.C.; Jonathan P. Lee (Clark) of Columbia, S.C.; six grandchildren, Regan, Susanna, Katherine, Andrew, Patrick, and Thomas Lee; a brother, Kenneth Lee of Kingstree, S.C.; three sisters, Betty Jean Jordan of Andrews, S.C.; Pansy Cox and Joyce Miles, both of Coward. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 5, 2017 from 6-8:00 P.M. at Cain Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 6, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Highland Park United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in St. Paul United Methodist Church Cemetery, 159 East St Paul Road, Coward, S.C. 29530 Memorials may be made to Highland Park United Methodist Church or St. Paul United Methodist Church cemetery fund.
