We are sad to announce the passing of Charles E. Kennedy, Sr. on June 23, 2026 at MUSC in Florence, SC at the age of 87. He is survived by his two sons, Jeffrey and Chuck.

Charles was a lifetime resident of Florence, SC and a dedicated employee for the CSX Corporation. He was honorably discharged from the Army National Guard on the 7th day of March 1963. After we take some time and mourn the passing of this wonderful man, we should celebrate with passion and gratefulness for the good memories we all shared with him. He was able to squeeze in 40 years of golfing, hanging out at his favorite local restaurants, and doing tremendous amounts of volunteer work throughout his community.

Charles had this charisma about him that everybody wanted to be around. He was resilient, ambitious, and never slowed down until his final days. And that is why Jeffrey referred to him as the “Great American Tank”.
