Catherine Harrison King, 96, of Florence, SC passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at her home.  Ms. King was born in Florence County, a daughter of the late Samuel and Minerva Gibbs Harrison.  She farmed for most of her life, but later went to work for the Carolina Crippled Children's Home and retired from Bruce Hospital System.  She had many hobbies including gardening, crocheting, reading, word puzzles, fishing and sewing.  Ms. King is preceded in death in addition to her parents by a son-in-law, George Lieutenant James, a grandson, George L. James, a grandson-in-law, Larry Pope and her six siblings, Maggie Mae Cook, James McKinley, Jake Harrison, July Ike Harrison, Ora Lee Thomas, and Thomas Harrison.

Surviving are her two children, Willie Odell King (Ann) and Gloria A. James and also nine grandchildren, Marty McLaughlin (Angela), Odell D. King (Kim), Nyesha Woodard, Ramsey D. King (Terri Ann), LaRosa J. Thomas (Carl), Reginald C. James, Yolanda L. James, Kimberly A. Pope, Tamalyn S. James; fifteen great grandchildren; fifteen great-great grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to her caretaker, Katrice Jeffery, for the love and care she gave to Mrs. King.  Also thank you to Amedysis Hospice for their wonderful care.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, May 3, 2024 at Cain Calcutt Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 4, 2024 in the Chapel of Cain Calcutt Funeral Home.  The repass will immediately follow in the Gym of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Memorials may be made to the America Kidney Foundation, the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
