Aiken, S.C. Carrie Dell Gouveia, 79, formerly of Florence, died Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Aiken Regional Medical Center in Aiken, S.C. She was born in Dillon, SC, a daughter of the late William and Iona Hamilton Pace. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Daniel Gouveia, and a grandson, Adam Ruppe. Mrs. Gouveia was a 1956 Graduate of McLeod Infirmary and worked as an RN for both McLeod and Bruce Hospitals in Florence, SC. She worked also as a private duty nurse in the Florence area. Mrs. Gouveia retired from the nursing profession. Mrs. Gouveia is survived by two daughters, Cathy Brown and her husband Randall of Aiken, S.C. and Helen Podruchny and her husband Walt of Sanford, N.C.; one son, Mike Gouveia and his wife Donna of Clayton, N.C.; a sister, Joan H. Tunstall of Westminister, SC; a brother, William J. Pace of Darlington, SC; nieces, Jo Ellen and Shannon, and nephews, Andy and Bill; seven grandchildren, Toni Hilburn, Danielle Gouveia, Casen Gouveia, Ashley (Matt) Kearney, Alex (Wendy) Ruppe, Susan Podruchny and Walter Podruchny; and nine great-grandchildren. The Chaplet of the Divine Mercy will be recited at 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Cain Funeral Home. Visitation will follow from 6-8:00 P.M at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 11, 2013 at 12:00 P.M. at St Anne's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens directed by Cain Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Anne's Building Fund.
