Carolyn Alford Bailey, 76, of Florence, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, July 30, 2026.

Mrs. Alford was born in Marion County, SC a daughter of the late Walter Alford and Jean Bryant Alford. She was employed with Food Lion at the Irby Street location for over 20 years. Carolyn loved Jesus, was an avid sports fan loving the SC Gamecocks, the Atlanta Braves and NASCAR, with Chase Elliott being her favorite driver. She enjoyed fishing, golf cart riding, cruises and going to the mountains, and Snoopy. She affectionately was known as “Cal Cal” to all the children that knew her.

In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Bailey; sister, Linda Alford (Morgan) Harrell; and her special friend, that was like a daughter to her, Belinda Smith.

Surviving are her daughter, Melissa Chavis; sisters-in-law, Linda Sauls and Phyllis (Milton) Taylor; special great-nephew, Tanner Harrell; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 pm Sunday, August 2, 2026 at Calcutt-Dowling Funeral Home with a service to be held at 3:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. A private entombment will be held at Florence Memorial Gardens at a later date.
