IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carolyn Louise
Arnold
October 18, 1943 – June 22, 2023
Carolyn Louise Arnold, 79, of Florence, SC, passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2023. She was born in Jacksonville, Florida on October 18, 1943, to the late Henry Grady and Ruby Mae Mock Weaver. Carolyn grew up in historic Fernandina Beach, FL, where she chose to raise her family and stayed in that area for more than 50 years. She was preceded in death by her eldest son, Jerome "JayBird" Arnold lll, her eldest sister, Ruby Ellyne Thomas, and a grandson, Sean Clayton McClung.
Carolyn had a lifelong love of children and animals. She was a Sunday School teacher in the 1970's while raising her own young children with her high school sweetheart, Jerome Arnold, Jr. Although they divorced after 20 years, they remained close, faithful, lifelong friends, and modeled a stellar example on the importance of forgiveness and family unity. Carolyn continued working with children in various ways throughout her career, including childcare in and outside of the home. With a great love of all people, Carolyn enjoyed working over ten years at multiple Walmart locations in the southeast. She also worked in the food industry, her favorite job being the morning shift at Hardee's in Fernandina Beach where she prepared the biscuits. Carolyn was a Great-Great Grandmother and the Matriarch of her family, whom she loved immensely . She often boasted about how proud she was to have such a big family, and to have lived long enough to spend quality time with her great-great grandson.
Surviving are two daughters; Vickie Rushing and Carol Arnold; son; Grady Arnold (Tisha); and bonus son Jim Rushing. Grandchildren: Leah Rushing (Douglas Adams), Jerome "AJ" Arnold IV, Tony McCumbers, Shane McClung, and Jermaine Lumpkins. Great-grandchildren: Anayah Smith (Ty King), Harlyn Bharwani, Lucas Arnold, Aubrey Arnold, Julius Lumpkins, and Naevia Lumpkins. Lastly, her Great-Great Grandchild August King. We could not go without mentioning her special fur family. Included are her grandcats: Sidoh, Patches, Stoney, and Jack; her grandogs, Teddy and Axel, and her most dearest pets, who preceded her in death, Callie Mae, Gunner, and Bella.
Cain-Calcutt Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Carolyn Arnold.
