Carol David Blalock, Sr., 85, of Effingham, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2018. He was born in Florence County, a son of the late Mary Lilly Hinson Blalock and Marshall Frank Blalock. He is also predeceased by his first wife, Bonnie White Blalock, a brother, Max Blalock, two step-sons, Paul Weaver and William Weaver, and step-daughter, Ellen Marlowe. Mr. Blalock retired after more than 40 years from the Charles Ingram Lumber Company. He was a Mason of the Flintville Lodge #158 and he was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church. He loved hunting, fishing and gardening. He is survived by his wife, Elorie Broach Blalock; daughter, Laurie Blalock Matthews (Bubba) of Florence; two sons, Carol David Blalock, Jr. (Sharon) of Tabor City and Scott Blalock (Marie) of Charleston; step-son Jimmy Weaver (Maria) of Florence; a sister, Christine Willis of Florence; six grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and eight step-great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 3, 2018, in the Tabernacle UMC Cemetery, directed by Cain Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Tabernacle UMC, 6854 Francis Marion Road, Pamplico, SC 29583, or to a charity of one's choice.
