Campbell White Choate, Sr., 87, of Florence, SC, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016, at Carolinas Hospital. Born in Mechlenburg County, NC, he was a son of the late Clarence Bervard Choate and Annie Lee Alexander Choate. He is predeceased by his parents, a daughter, Barbara Louise Choate Hensley, one brother and three sisters.
Campbell was a veteran of the US Air Force and was a jack of all trades, having retired as a farmer and a truck driver. He was a lifetime Master Mason of Benton Lodge #26, a member of American Legion Post #1, and he was an Elder of Parkwood Presbyterian Church. He had a passion for gardening. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Faith Beck Choate; sons, Campbell W. (Robin) Choate, Jr. of Thomasville, NC and David B. Choate of Florence; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 11, 2016, at Parkwood Presbyterian Church, 2307 Cascade Avenue, Florence, SC 29505, with Inurnment to follow at Florence National Cemetery, directed by Cain Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 PM on Sunday, April 10, 2016, at the church. Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post # 1 or to Parkwood Presbyterian Church.
