Byron Hugh Willis, 68, of Effingham, SC, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024.  He was born in Florence, a son of the late William "Bill" and Annie Richardson Willis.  He is also predeceased by his brother, William Bill Willis Jr.  Byron was a veteran and served in the US Navy.  He was a 1974 graduate of South Florence High School and was a member of Elim Bible Church.  Byron worked as a diesel mechanic for many years and he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, especially in charity and toy runs, going to the beach.  He was also a dog trainer for many years.

Surviving is his special friend, Darlene Tyler; and a number of cousins and extended family and friends.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 6, 2024, in the Florence National Cemetery.  Cain Calcutt Funeral Home is honored to serve the Willis family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elim Bible Church.
