Bruce C. Walters, 88, of Florence, SC, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend whose kindness and warmth left a lasting impact on those who knew him. Born on November 16, 1936, in Jamestown, New York, Bruce graduated from St. John's Military Academy and studied Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University. He spent his first 40 years living in New York, Connecticut, and Michigan, before making his home in South Carolina for his remaining years. Bruce started as an engineer working at AVM, where he rose to the position of President, earning respect for his dedication and leadership. He enjoyed sailing, rowing, racing sports cars, and working with his hands on home improvement projects.  He was a devoted Christian who was a member of Christ Church and served on the vestry.  He cherished the time spent with his loved ones. Bruce is survived by his three children, Nealey Pearson, Bruce Walters Jr., and Denise Bidwell (Tom); his two stepchildren, Michael Collins (Kathy) and Mitchell Collins (Therese); his sister, Helen Broadhead (Jeff); and 10 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Walters; his stepchild, Reese Collins; and his parents, Margaret and John C. Walters.  He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy J. Walters. A memorial service will be held at the Anglican Church of the Advent, Marion, South Carolina on August 15, 2025 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Florence Area Humane Society (www.florencehumanesociety.org) or the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) are appreciated. Bruce's memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
