Brenda McDaniel Brunson, 79, of Florence, SC, passed away at her home on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.

Mrs. Brunson was born in Lake City, SC, the daughter of the late Carl and Cora Pickett McDaniel. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served as a scout leader and primary teacher. She had taught Adult Education at Poyner and worked with the Red Cross for a number of years.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Roy Brunson Jr.; two sons, Brian Brunson and Brad Brunson; and a brother, James McDaniel.

Surviving are a daughter, Cynthia (Richard) Verstraete; a son, Barry (Carmen) Brunson; grandchildren, Jonathan Brunson, Tyler Brunson, Brae Brunson, Briann Brunson and Chancellor Verstraete; great-grandchildren, Derik Brunson, Dahlia Brunson and Eko Spruill; a daughter-in-law, Kristin Brunson; and a special niece, Joy Michelle McDaniel.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 30, 2026, in the Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Church with interment to follow at Florence Memorial Gardens directed by Calcutt-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior at the church prior to the services.

The family would like to give special thanks to McLeod Hospice and especially her nurse, Bailey Fowler, for the special care given to Mrs. Brunson.
