Florence, SC Betty Lou Matthews, 66, of Florence, S.C., died Thursday, January 9, 2014 at McLeod Hospice House. She was born in Loris, S.C., a daughter of Katie Fipps Boyd and the late Arthur Boyd. She is predeceased by her father and a granddaughter, Katelyn Matthews. Betty was a loving Mother and Grandmother who will be dearly missed. She gave all the love she could to her family and friends. She is now with her Heavenly Father and she will always be with us in our memories. Rest in peace. She is survived by her mother, Katie Fipps Boyd of Florence, S.C.; five children,Scott Matthews, Sr. of Camden, S.C.; Michael Matthews of Charlotte, N.C.; Angela Jordan of Florence, S.C.; Phillip Matthews of Florence, S.C.; Melinda Matthews of Florence, S.C.; two brothers, Bill Boyd of Florence, S.C.; Roger Boyd of Florence, S.C.; one sister, Pat Williams of Greenwood, S.C.; six grandchildren, Scott Matthews, Jr., Abigail Matthews, Tyler Matthews, Jade Jordan, Nova Welch and Winter Welch. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 12, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 P.M. prior to the service.
