Barbara "Gammie" Walker Kirby, 93, of Florence, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2016 at the McLeod Hospice House.

Mrs. Kirby Was born in Perkins, CA, a daughter of the late Thomas John and Maude Pearl Maxfield Walker. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. Mrs. Kirby attended Mount St. Mary's Business College in Sacramento, Ca. Throughout her life, she was a member of numerous organizations, such as the Garden Club, Gutterbug Bowling League, the Coffee Club, Leatherman Senior Center, and numerous bridge clubs. Mrs. Kirby was a devoted mother and grandmother and was known to her grandchildren as "Gammie". She is preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her loving husband, Floyd Eugene Kirby and two sisters, Bernice Somerville and Jerry Walker. Surviving are three daughters, Pamela Kirby of San Francisco, CA, Vickie Kirby and Wendy Kirby Johnson both of Florence; a son, Kerry (Monique) Kirby of Burgaw, NC; seven grandchildren, Shawn (Cheryl) Connick of San Francisco, CA, Samantha (Edward) Parker of Weston, CT, Traci (Kent) Summersett of Florence, Heith (Cassie) Moore of Murrells Inlet, Jeff (Kim) Johnson of Pamplico, Trent (Kayce) Johnson of Florence, and Heather (Don) Kinser of Cary, NC; thirteen great grandchildren, Andrew and Nathan Connick, Phoenix, Blu, Zephyr, and Foxwylde Parker, Duncan and Saige Summersett, Zaine and Keenyn Moore, Chandler and Gavin Johnson, and Kaleb Johnson; a brother, Richard (Marlene) Walker of Concord, CA; and a number of nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 in the chapel of Cain-Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the McLeod Hospice House.
