Dr. Arthur Edward Justice, Sr., 90, of Florence, SC, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at McLeod Hospice House. He was born in Fitzgerald, GA., a son of the late Arthur O. and Mayce Williams Justice. He is also predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Justice and his sister, Ouidafe (Stan) Sobus. Dr. Justice was a veteran of the US Navy having served during WWII. He earned a Masters and Doctorate in Education from Duke University and was a lifelong educator, including serving as College Dean at USC Spartanburg as well as Dean of Columbus University in Columbus GA. He was a lifetime Methodist, member of Central UMC in Florence and was well known as a Sunday School and Bible teacher. He had a beautiful tenor voice and was a member of the choir. Dr. Justice also was a longtime Eagle Scout, Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader. He loved fishing, hunting, camping and hiking and was a big Duke basketball fan. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Kate Forshee Justice; one daughter, Susan (Nick) DeBonis of St. Simon Island, GA; two sons, Art (Laura Lee) Justice of Florence and Scott (Joan) Justice of Springfield, SC; eight grandchildren, Shay Justice, Elisabeth Justice, Jessica (Phil) Reath, Katie Justice, Maggie Justice, Jenni Justice, Andrew DeBonis and Gabby (Josh) Frazier; one great grandchild, Cayden Frazier; sister in law, Harriett Justice of Fitzgerald, GA; and seven nieces and nephews.
