Florence, SC Annabelle Ludlam Snipes, 81, died Monday, December 5, 2011, at the Methodist Manor after an extended illness. A memorial service will be held at the Mary Alice Ingram Chapel, Methodist Manor, on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 2PM. Chaplin Ann Ayers will preside and visitation will follow the service. Born in Horry County on March 14, 1930, Annabelle was the daughter of the late Ted and Lee Jordan Ludlam. She received a BA degree from Winthrop College and studied graduate courses at USC, Furman and The Citadel. She had lived in Hartsville, SC for 32 years before moving to the Methodist Manor in Florence, SC in 2007. Annabele retired as an English teacher after 31 years. She taught in West Columbia, Dentsville, Charleston, Greenville and Hartsville. She had been a member of St. Luke UMC, where she was a member of the Danny Newsome Circle. She was a member of the Hartsville Country Club Ladies Association, the Pine and Lake Garden Club, the Jacob Kelley House, the YMCA, the Hartsville Shag Club and a volunteer at Kalmia Gardens. In Charleston and Columbia, she was a Sunday School teacher and a Girl Scout Leader. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Wade A. Snipes, daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Sam Wilkinson of Richmond, VA, Sara and Dr. Mel Cruser, III of Virginia Beach, VA, grandchildren Wade Cruser, Jennifer Cruser, and Matthew Wilkinson. The family would like to express their deepest thanks to the Staff Members at Methodist Manor, who gave their generous and loving care to Annabelle. They also extend their gratitude to the Agape Hospice staff for their care and concern.
