Florence, SC Alvin Leon Josey, 76, of Florence, SC, died on Thursday, May 14, 2015, at McLeod Hospice House. He was born in Statesville, NC, a son of the late John Alva and Naomi Chapman Josey. Leon served in the Air Force Reserve from 1957 to 1962 and the North Carolina Air National Guard from 1956 to 1957. He moved his family to Florence, SC, in 1964 as a salesman for Maintenance Supply Company out of North Carolina. He held various positions in sales and real estate, including working part time at the Darlington Raceway museum from 1965 to 1986, until he retired from Iron Age Safety Shoe Company. Leon was a friend to many and loved by all. He is survived by three children; Mark Leon Josey (Suzan) of Timmonsville, Robin Josey Allen (Melvin) of Effingham, and Darrin Scott Josey of Savannah, GA; one sister, Patricia "Patsy" Josey Lytton (Wes) of Statesville, NC; and two grandchildren, Serena Nicole Josey and Alita Grace Josey. A memorial service will be held Monday, May 18, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Cain-Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 A.M prior to the service at the funeral home.
