Alva Ray, 83, of Florence, entered into rest on Thursday, April 30, 2020 in Florence. He was born in Sumter County, SC, a son of late Willie E. and Carrie Buckner Ray.  He is predeceased in addition to his parents by a granddaughter, Brandi Ray; six brothers, William, Lewis, Freddie, Elmer, Thomas and Floyd Ray; five sisters, Eva Stewart, Virginia Ubele, Connie Chrapek, Helen Hood, and Lillian Yarbrough.

Alva worked as a painting contractor.  He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Florence Shag Club, enjoyed fishing and was a former member of the Shriner's.

Alva is survived by his daughter, Beverly R. Kelly; sons, Ashley and Michael Ray all of Florence; three grandchildren, Jessica Burgess, Sydney Hardwick and Lucas Hatchell; a very special niece, Carol Powers and many other nieces, nephews and many friends that will miss him dearly.

Due to Covid-19, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
